Georgetown Prep wins sixth straight IAC title with sweep of Landon

On Saturday in North Bethesda, the Georgetown Prep baseball team secured its sixth consecutive IAC title with a commanding 17-0 home victory over Landon to sweep the best-of-three finals series. The Hoyas, who won Game 1 at Landon on Wednesday, wasted no time asserting control, forcing multiple pitching changes in the first three innings.

Senior Austin Weiss, a Maryland commit, starred at the plate with an RBI triple and a double, while fellow Division I-bound teammates Will Twomey (Michigan) and Andrew Duncan (Duke) added key hits during a relentless offensive outburst.

Prep's win marks its ninth IAC tournament championship since 2011. Coach Rob Begin credited the team's resilience and senior leadership, particularly during a difficult March plagued by injuries and illness.

Prep entered the 2025 season as the conference favorite after an undefeated IAC season in 2024, but the Bears and Hoyas split their regular season contests to share the regular season title, and Landon won the top seed for the tournament in a coin flip. However, the Hoyas quickly reasserted their dominance in the rematch of last year's final, improving to 20-6 on the season.
