Georgetown Prep sweeps Landon to win 2026 IAC baseball title
On Friday at Landon School, third-seeded Georgetown Preparatory School secured its seventh consecutive Interstate Athletic Conference (IAC) baseball tournament championship by defeating fourth-seeded Landon 8-3 to secure a two-game series sweep. The Hoyas, who had their seven-year streak of regular-season titles snapped by St. Albans, defeated second-seeded Bullis 9-3 in the semifinals, while Landon earned its place in the championship series with a 3-1 win over top-seeded St. Albans.
In Game 1 of the championship series, Caleb Kearns started on the mound and contributed two hits at the plate to help guide Georgetown Prep to an 8-7 victory. Luke Crawford went 3-for-4, while Tyson Sumner drove in the go-ahead run in the fifth inning. Ben Sclafani recorded the final outs for the save.
Sclafani started Game 2, striking out nine batters over 6 1/3 innings. Kearns recorded the final two outs to close out the 8-3 win. Offensively, Kearns and Crawford each collected two hits, and Jon Senker added a two-run home run.
