Landon defeats Episcopal 2-1 to earn share of IAC soccer title

The Landon soccer team secured a share of the 2024 IAC soccer crown with a thrilling 2-1 win over Episcopal in the championship game on Thursday. The title is the 22nd IAC championship for the Bears, who entered the tournament as the #4 seed following a challenging regular season with their lowest conference win total in five years. However, after a first-round win over St. Stephen's and St. Agnes on Monday, Landon took down regular season champion St. Albans on penalty kicks in the semifinals on Tuesday to reach the final.

After Episcopal opened the scoring, Landon's defense stood strong, led by goalie Luke Tegeris and defenders Jeevan Mathura and Kendall Buford. Junior Nick Appleton quickly equalized, and Graham Macallister scored the game-winner in the 67th minute from an Appleton assist.
